Counselling Contract/Terms & Conditions

Counselling Sessions and Fees:
-
Your counselling session will last for 50 minutes, and I offer weekly or fortnightly sessions which are ongoing for as long as you require. If for any reason you are late for a session, this will be taken out of the 50 minutes as I am unable to run over. Payment will need to be paid in full, in advance of the session taking place and should payment not be received, then we will not be able to proceed.
Cancellation and Charges:
-
Should you need to cancel an appointment, please give me a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. If 24 hours’ notice is not given, the normal full charge will be made for the missed appointment. Should payment not be made, no future sessions will be offered. With cancellations made within the 24 hours’ notice, a cancellation fee of 50% will be charged to cover the cost of the room hire and any other related costs. Should payment not be made, then no future sessions will be offered. Counsellor and clients should advise each other of any holidays that will have an impact on the upcoming sessions.
-
I will not be able to keep the counselling space open for you in the following circumstances:
If you miss or cancel three consecutive appointments.
Confidentiality Policy:
-
Your counselling sessions are confidential with the service and this confidentiality will apply to any records in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
-
All counsellors are required to participate in regular supervision sessions, and I may take relevant issues from the session to supervision. Within supervision I will always take care to preserve clients’ anonymity.
-
In exceptional circumstances confidentiality may be broken. The circumstances would include:
-
Where you as a client give consent for confidentiality to be broken.
-
Where I feel it is appropriate to consult with, or involve other professionals such as your GP, where there is a risk of harm to yourself or a third party. In such cases, I will aim to discuss and action with you first to seek your co-operation.
-
Where in extreme circumstances I am legally compelled by a court of law.
-
Where statutory law requires me to inform the relevant authorities (such as terrorist activities, drug trafficking, money laundering or abuse of a child or vulnerable adult).
Complaints Procedure:

As a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I adhere to their Ethical Framework for good practice and a copy of this code is available on request. If you have any concerns or wish to make a complaint, you should contact BACP on the following email address:
