FAQ’S

What questions do therapists ask in the first session?

I will ask what has bought you to Therapy in the first instance and what you would like to gain from the sessions or if you have any goals that you would like to set. Ultimately these are your sessions, to talk about whatever you want to, and I will allow you to lead at a pace that is comfortable for you.

What can I talk about in therapy?

You can talk about anything you want to, past experiences, present challenges and future hopes, anything you want to talk about is equally important to me as your therapist.

What can I expect in a counselling session?

I will encourage you to talk about your feelings, thoughts and emotions and I will listen with no judgement and offer empathy to support you in your journey through counselling.

How do I tell my therapist something that I feel particularly hard to talk about?

I will listen and it is up to you if you would like to tell me, there will be no pressure to talk about anything you do not feel comfortable with.

Can I talk too much in therapy?

Absolutely not

Will my therapist judge me if I cry?

Absolutely not. This is a part of therapy, and you will always be in a safe place where you can show your emotions and feelings without any judgement.

Should I tell my therapist if they have upset me?

Yes, you should tell me if I have upset you. Open communication with the counselling room is crucial in building up a therapeutic relationship. If I have said something to upset you, it will be beneficial to discuss this, as addressing feelings can provide an insight into your triggers, boundaries, or past experiences.
